Gameguys

Hi Everyone,

Well Movieguys has run its race, and Gameguys will now run as a dedicated game rental site. In the last 18 months we have tried to give everyone the very best range and service, with both movies and games. We have been in business in one way or another for over 20 years, and we have never offered, and never intend to offer a service we thought was not 100%.
We have made the hard decision to discontinue the movies so we can keep giving customers 100%. We have purchased every Playstation 3,Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii game since they were released. Combine this with the biggest selection of Playstation 2 and a good selection of Nintendo DS and we believe we have the best way of renting games anywhere.
I would like to thank everyone for their very kind emails and for those who didn't have a games console (Buy ONE!! you don't know what you are missing) thank you for your support and good luck with whichever movie supplier you have decided to use.
For our gamers, if you think our site can be improved we would like to hear your ideas. I hope everyone enjoys the service, and rember that by recommending friends through the site you can get a $10 credit towards your account.

Still waiting

Well doesn't time fly. We have already waited over a month without hearing from the major distributors on whether we can add more to our Blu Ray rentals. I have followed up with emails but still nothing. I will keep trying, both by phone and emails to see if we cant get things moving.
We have managed to find a few Blu Ray titles we didnt have through other suppliers, these are now avaliable through our site.
If anyone has any contacts or access to approved Blu Ray titles that we dont already have, we would love to hear from you.

More Rental Blu Ray for Movieguys please

Well I am still trying to get more Blu Ray product released by the Distributors. Movieguys are trying to get exclusive releases for any Blu Ray title the Distributors are not importing For Sale. We obviously will not do the wrong thing by any Distributor, but we are hoping they will see the merits of having more titles available for rental to help bolster the Blu Ray market.
We have a very high percentage of Blu Ray movies rented compared to DVD's. This may be slightly inflated for us, as most of our Blu Ray customers also hire Ps3 games. Obviously the Ps3 console is still the hardware of choice for 90% of our customers.
As we are the newest online rental company we never intended to compete 100% with other online rental companies with DVD's, but I don't intend to let any of them offer a better range, or price point, when it comes to either Blu Ray movies or games.

Blu Ray still growing

We are still leading the way with online Blu Ray movie rentals. 320 titles and counting, we still want to see more and intend to hound the distributors for more titles in Australia. Why have America had nearly twice as many Blu Ray movies released as Australia?
Our customers are certainly asking for more, our requests for Blu Ray have gone through the roof. For good reason too, you can notice the difference! We actually set up 2 Plasma screens in the office and played a standard DVD on a Standard plasma, and a Playstation 3 console with the same movie hooked up to a High Definition 1080P Samsung Plasma.
We showed everyone coming through the door and the response was as expected, wow you can really see the difference...now I am going to have to get one of those.

Free Trial

Why don’t we offer the free trial anymore?

We do consider free trials an important tool for customers to get a feel for a business, but as it costs a considerable amount of money to buy extra movies and send them to trial customers, we would need to build these costs into our existing members monthly plans to help pay for the offer.
We don’t believe it is fair on our existing members, and pride ourselves on having the cheapest deals in this industry. Please compare for yourself and you decide how much you want to pay.
Feel free if you like to trial other sites, and if you think this is the way to go to rent movies, you are more than welcome to join us. Whether you like the others or not, we believe we have the best customer service and with our ratio of buying titles to requests, you will also see a lot more New Releases a lot faster with us.

Now Over 300 Blu Ray movies

Movieguys now have over 300 Blu Ray titles to choose from. We continue to lead the way in the High Definition online rental movie market.

Blu Ray discs are now supported by all the Major studios including…Disney (Buena Vista),DreamWorks,Fox,HBO,Lionsgate,MGM,New Line Cinema,Paramount,Sony Pictures,Universal Studios,Warner Bros. and Weinstein Company.

Movieguys will continue to lead the way with Blu Ray movie hire. If it is released to Blu Ray ...we will buy it.
After watching movies in the high definition format, it has to be said that it is difficult to go back to standard Definition movies. Sometimes though we don’t want to wait, some of the latest releases are still taking longer to be released onto Blu Ray than DVD. I for one would like to see this change, sooner rather than later.
Why is this still happening? Isn’t the war over? Why are we forced to wait longer for high Definition when this is the format of the future? When will the distributors get their act together and have both systems released at the same time? After all isn’t this the way they want us to go?
Come on guys we all want to go Blu Ray, you have to invest in titles to get the public on board. We are ready to follow.

280+ Blu Ray Movies

Movieguys still lead the way with Blu Ray movies. We now have over 280 Blu Ray movies to choose from. Other major on line companies have less than 250 titles. We intend to concentrate on Blu Ray movies and games, and while we will still continue to buy DVD titles, we see the future in High Definition formats.
Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone for your support since our entry into the online rental market. We continue to grow with new customers joining almost every hour. Grand Theft Auto 4 (Halfway)

Well I am nearly half way through Grand Theft Auto 4; I ended up playing it on my Xbox 360. I must say it is a little predictable and the missions a little easy. I am hoping they will get a little more difficult as I get further into the game, but so far they don’t seem to be getting any harder. Don’t get me wrong I have had to repeat a couple of missions, but second time around is quite simple as you already know what not to do next time.
That said I think the game is very well detailed, and from one side of the city to the other you don’t even see the same token pedestrian too often. I especially love the ability to go anywhere and do anything you want. I challenge myself to see how much I can upset the police and still escape. Although the police are very forgiving if you run into other cars or run over pedestrians in front of them…. just don’t run into their car or they might get upset.
I was also hoping to be able to get some plastic surgery as the main character Niko Bellic is not the best looking guy around. The best you can do is buy him some new clothes, and hope he doesn’t take off his shirt, as some of the outfits show he looks to be a little out of shape.
But my gripes are minor. Grand Theft Auto 4 is still a great game, just keep in mind the average age of gamers these days is 29 (and I am a little older than that) so I wouldn’t hire it out for your 10 year old, as it has got some fairly graphic images and drug use in the game.

270+ Blu Ray

We now have over 270 Blu Ray titles to choose from. Blu Ray continues to gain ground on DVD's with rentals now approaching around 10% of what DVD movies are achieving.
Massive amounts of titles have been announced for release onto the Blu Ray system this year. DVD sales plateaued about 3 years ago and have been slowly declining since, where as Blu Ray have increased over 350% in recent sales figures.
With the format war now over, and more titles on their way. Consumers are now feeling more confident to invest in the High Definition Format.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Due for Release 29/04/2008

Well I know I am ready for Grand Theft Auto 4. I just don't know if I am going to play it on Playstation 3 or Xbox 360? Who cares it is going to be great. Make sure you have requested it as it is going to be the game of the year (At least the first half of the year anyway)

High-definition TV, Blu-ray and HDMI

High-definition TVs are now what everyone wants to own, but the majority of us still watch them in standard definition. There are plenty of choices for getting High Defination content, the best of which has to be Blu-ray.
Blu-ray hardware is expensive. But if you're a gamer and have a PlayStation 3 (one of the best Blu-ray players), you are most likely already enjoying High Definition.
But are you?
Last I checked Sony was still not including a HDMI Cable!
The Playstation 3 is a State-of-the-Art Entertainment system capable of displaying games and movies at the highest resolution with the ultimate in surround sound. However, to achieve these results, the Playstation 3 requires an additional high-bandwidth connection or HDMI Cable! For true High Definition entertainment and like surround sound.

So for you ultimate experience, you will need a High-definition TV preferably 1080P, a Blu-ray player preferably a Playstation 3 and the HDMI Cable to link them. I know the cable seems expensive, but if you have already forked out for the first two, you have to get the cable as well.
